Mondays @ Sticks & Stones Farm, Newtown, CT
Join us for adventures in the snow this winter! Enjoy the magic of making fires on ice, finding animal tracks, and exploring the frosty forest. With options to either stay with your child or drop them off, you can choose to be part of the community building experience or encourage your children to develop independence in rugged conditions. Kids will deepen their fire and shelter building skills, hike, sing, play, and explore!

Mondays | Mixed Ages

Time: 12:30pm – 3:30pm

8 Week Session Dates: January 6, 13, 20, 27, February 3, 10, 17, 24 *There is no Weather Cancellation Makeup Date for this session. Instead, if I need to cancel a class, I will issue credits towards next session or a refund for that class.

Rates: Accompany Your Child: $312 ($13/hr) or Drop Off (only available for ages 4+): $384 ($16/hr)

*Younger Siblings under 2 years old can attend for Free. *Payment plans and sliding scales may be available on an as needed basis. *There are no refunds for missed classes.

Info & Packing List

  • Check the weather before you come.  We will have class rain or shine so stay informed so you have what you need.
  • If we need to cancel class due to weather (dangerous road conditions, high winds, etc.) You will receive a text at least 2 hours before class starts.
  • Parking: Monday Group, please park in the main entrance by the Barn, 201 Huntingtown Rd. Thursday Group, please park in the Real Food Share Garden parking lot, 171 Huntingtown Rd.
  • There is a Porta-Potty for our use in the field right next to the parking lot. Once we hike up the hill, be prepared to go in the woods.
  • If you will be late or unable to attend any class, please text your instructor to let them know so we won’t be worried or waiting for you.  If you’re going to be very late, we will describe to you where we are or send someone to meet you.
  • The fastest way to get ahold of Rainbow is by phone/text at (203) 494-7363.  If you have any questions as you prepare for the first day, please feel free to ask.
  • Sticks and Stones is a very welcoming place!  You can picnic before or after class time or go for additional walks on the property any day.  We just request that you clean up well after yourselves and your kids.

WINTER PACKING LIST

  • Lunch and Snacks! (Your kids may eat even more than usual in this active outdoor environment)
  • A Full Water Bottle.
  • 2 Pairs of WOOL socks (one on, one in the backpack)
  • 2 Pairs of gloves/mittens *At least one must be waterproof!*
  • Snow Pants (even if it’s not snowing, they will help insulate from the cold).
  • Waterproof Boots (rain boots aren’t warm enough – must be insulated)
  • Hat
  • Warm Jacket
  • Extra food! Something warming could be helpful like soup in a thermos, etc.
  • Wipes
  • A backpack to put these things in.  Having a comfortable pack is essential to enjoying your day.
