Spring 2025

@ Sticks & Stones Farm, Newtown, CT

This Spring, we’ll be diving into the magic that Sticks and Stones offers! Climbing up Moss Mountain and exploring the vernal pools and beyond, we will practice both leadership and team building skills. Join us for a season of exploring not only the land, but the potential kids have to express and develop their ability to feel safe, confident and effective in the forest.  As the weather warms up, we’ll get to look for tracks along the river’s edge and search for crayfish as we wade in the river. You can look forward to making fire and foraged tea, singing and exploring, learning about animals and plants, crafting and games!

  • Please Park in the larger lot to the right. We will meet in front of the Stone Barn.
  • There is a Porta-Potty for our use in the field right next to the parking lot. Once we hike up the hill, be prepared to go in the woods.
  • If you will be late or unable to attend any class, please text your instructor to let them know so we won’t be worried or waiting for you.  If you’re going to be very late, we will describe to you where we are or send someone to meet you.

What to Bring

  • Lunch and Snacks! (Your kids may eat even more than usual in this active outdoor environment)
  • A Full Water Bottle.
  • A dry change of clothes, including socks and water shoes.  Your kid may only be planning on putting their feet in and then fall and get completely wet.  Be prepared for that!
  • A backpack to put these things in.  Having a comfortable pack is essential to enjoying your day.  If you carry everything in a tote on one shoulder, it can be uncomfortable and distract you from being in the moment.  If your child is over 5, they can have a small backpack and carry some of their own stuff.
  •  If the weather looks wet, cold or windy, make sure to bring extra layers, wool socks, waterproof gloves and boots for both you and your child.
  • Wipes.
